Ruth M. Gschwind
Ruth M. Gschwind is professor of Organic Chemistry at the University of Regensburg in Germany.
Her research interests focus on the application and method development of NMR spectroscopy in synthesis and catalysis covering organocatalysis, photocatalysis, inorganic, organometallic and bioorganic systems. A characteristic of her research projects is to enter uncharted territory in various synthetically highly important fields, in which the structures, intermediates, interaction pattern or reaction pathways remained elusive despite a long standing and international effort. Famous examples are the pioneering work in photocatalysis, enamine detection, hydrogen bond detection, ion pair catalysis and Zintl anions’ structures.
Ruth Gschwind is currently spokesperson of the research training group IonPairs in Re-Action, director of the Center for Magnetic Resonance in Chemistry and Biomedicine at Regensburg, and member in several advisory boards. Her awards include an ERC grant and the Novartis lectureship.
