Recoupling schemes are important in magic-angle-spinning (MAS) solid-state NMR experiments as they bring back interactions that are normally averaged out due to the spinning. These shed important information regarding geometry of molecules with regard to distances and various angles. We here revisit two of the popular heteronuclear recoupling schemes, namely rotational-echo double-resonance (REDOR) and dipolar chemical-shift correlation (DIPSHIFT), and explore connections between them. They have been respectively used for elucidation of distances and order parameters/dynamics in a variety of molecules. We also highlight certain features of the symmetry-based pulse methods obtained with asynchronisation. Experimental results will be shown on model compounds, ranging from small molecules to proteins.
